This Privacy Policy explains how Aura Live, Inc. (“Aura”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses, shares, and protects personal information in connection with our mobile apps, websites, APIs, and related services (together, the “Platform”). By creating an account or otherwise using the Platform, you acknowledge the practices described here.
Aura is a live-streaming platform with virtual gifting, pay-per-minute video calls, messaging, and creator payouts. Because several of those activities involve payments, identity verification, and content on a public stage, this policy is more specific than a generic social-app policy. If you only plan to watch streams, most of the creator-side sections will not apply to you.
Some features, including DeepAR-powered beauty presets, face-tracking filters, and AR effects, analyze the shape and position of your face in real time. This processing happens entirely on your device. Aura does not receive or store a biometric template, face geometry map, or a reference image of your face as a result of running these effects. The processed camera frames that you actually publish to a stream (with the filter applied) are handled the same way as any other livestream video you choose to broadcast.
If we introduce a feature that creates a biometric identifier tied to you — for example face-match verification for creator accounts — we will ask for separate, specific consent before collecting that data and will describe the retention and sharing rules before you opt in.
We use personal information to:
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, the legal bases on which we rely to process your personal information include:
Your public profile (handle, display name, avatar, bio, rank, follows, posts, streams, and gift leaderboards you appear on) is visible to other Platform users. Direct messages are visible to the parties to the conversation. Livestream chat is visible to everyone who can watch that stream.
We share personal information with vendors that host our infrastructure and help run the Platform, bound by contractual confidentiality and security terms. This includes cloud hosting (Supabase, Cloudflare, Vercel), real-time media (LiveKit), payment processing (Stripe), push notifications (Expo, Apple, Google/FCM), analytics and monitoring (Sentry), and email delivery (Resend).
We disclose information when we have a good-faith belief that it is necessary to (a) comply with a law, subpoena, court order, or similar process, (b) investigate fraud or other violations of our Terms, (c) protect the safety of users or the public, or (d) respond to a lawful request from a government authority.
If Aura is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to equivalent privacy protections.
We share personal information in other ways only when you ask us to.
Aura does not sell personal information for money, and does not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising outside the Platform. “Sale” and “share” are defined by California privacy law and similar statutes.
Aura is headquartered in the United States and our primary production database runs in Tokyo. When you use the Platform, your personal information may be transferred to and processed in the United States, Japan, or any country where our service providers operate. Where the law requires, we rely on transfer mechanisms such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses (and the UK addendum), supplemented by technical and organizational safeguards.
We keep personal information only as long as it is needed for the purposes described above, after which we delete or de-identify it. Our default retention periods are:
Some data may be retained for longer in a legal hold, in backup media that roll off on a schedule, or in aggregated, de-identified form that cannot reasonably be linked back to you.
You have the following rights, subject to local law. Some rights (such as deletion) can be exercised directly in-app; others are handled through written request.
To exercise a right, email privacy@auralive.tv from the address on your account. For account deletion you can also use the in-app “Delete account” flow.
You have the right to know what categories of personal information we collect, the right to delete, the right to correct, the right to limit our use of sensitive personal information, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising a privacy right. Aura does not sell personal information and does not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
The Platform is only for people 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that a user is under 18, we will disable the account and delete their information. If you believe a minor has created an account, please report it to safety@auralive.tv.
We use encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest for our primary database and storage. Access to personal information by Aura staff is limited to employees who need it for their role and is audited. Despite these measures, no system is perfectly secure. If we become aware of a security incident that materially affects your information, we will notify affected users and authorities as required by law.
The Platform may contain links to third-party websites and services (for example, external profiles a creator chooses to link, app-store listings, payment processors' pages). Those sites have their own privacy practices and we are not responsible for them. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party service you use.
We will update this Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the current version. If we make material changes, we will notify you in-app, by email, or through a prominent notice before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the Platform after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
